The Panel is an independent voice for consumers of financial services. We provide advice to the FSA on the interests and concerns of consumers. We assess the FSA's effectiveness in meeting its objectives to protect consumers' interests and promote public understanding of the financial system. As well as being consulted by the FSA on its policy proposals, the Panel also raises its own concerns and initiates its own research.
Responses to consultations Much of the Panel's work focuses on responding to formal consultations set up by the FSA, with some responses given to relevant government department and European Commission consultations and parliamentary committee inquiries. All these responses, setting out the views of the Panel, are made public on this website.
Other Panel documents There are some subjects, about which the Panel may wish to comment, which are not responses to consultations. The other panel documents section contains such documents, as well as the evidence to Parliamentary Committees and formal letters to the European Commission.
Panel issues The Panel's position on a number of major financial services issues is described in the issues section.
The Panel also produces an annual report of its activities each year.
Media The Panel seeks to engage in public debate on policy developments which will affect the consumers of financial services. A list of the Panel's press releases is available on this site and is updated whenever a new release is issued.
Research The Panel also commissions its own research, both of consumer opinion, and on specific issues to help to inform its discussion and views.
